Meet the Pack Leader: Karen McGovern

Karen McGovern is proud to call the Barrington suburbs her hometown, where she was raised and is now proudly raising her own family. She lives here with her husband Brett, their son Beckett, and two rescued pets—Max, the friendly pup featured on the mobile pet spa van, and Cougar, their fun and feisty cat. Another special “celebrity” dog featured on the grooming van is Piper, the Lake Zurich High School service dog—an important and proud member of our community.

After years of balancing work, travel, and family, Karen truly felt the challenge of finding dependable, loving care for her pets. Driven by her lifelong passion for animals and a desire to bring peace of mind to busy families, she founded Woofie’s® of Barrington-Northwest. Her goal is to offer personalized, trusted care that not only saves time but also fills every visit with joy, comfort, and love—because every pet deserves to feel truly cherished.

Karen continues to give back by volunteering with Second City Canine Rescue Foundation and stays actively involved in both the Barrington and Lake Zurich Chambers of Commerce. She also supports her son’s school, Lake Zurich High School, staying connected to the community that has always been home.

With a dedicated team of fellow pet lovers, Woofie’s provides more than just services—it delivers fluff, walks, and tail wags every day. For Karen, this is more than a business—it’s a way to give back to the community she loves by caring for the pets who make it whole.
